looks good but I never used it. Saving it as a gift..
I bought the Jean Paul TS400 tenor saxophone from Amazon (which is the way to purchase their instruments). When I received the first one, it looked as though it had been ordered by someone before me, tried, repackaged and sent to me. It had finger prints, smudges and scratches on it, and the mouthpiece looked as though it had been used. I immediately called the Jean Paul company to inform them of the condition of the horn, and I have to say, I was more than pleasantly surprised with the customer service and prompt response that I received. After taking pictures and emailing the representative that I spoke with, he apologized, saying that they would never send out an instrument in the shape that I had received it in, and told me that they would send a brand new horn to me immediately. Within two days, I had a brand, new saxophone, fully set up and ready to play! Two different representatives from the company were in constant contact with me either by email or by telephone, and they made this one of the best customer service experiences that I have ever had! Not only that, this is one of the best student model horns that I have ever played! The set up was fantastic, it was free blowing, and the lower and upper registers were effortless to play. I actually used this saxophone the very next day at a gig, and I didn’t even need to break it in! I will and have recommended this company and their instruments to everyone that I know! I have absolutely nothing bad and everything good to say about Jean Paul instruments! By the way, I put no blame on the Jean Paul company for the condition of the first saxophone, I believe Amazon sent out a used return as a new product without inspecting it.
Thank you to both Felipe and Tim for proving that excellent customer service still exists in this day and age, and that there is a company that actually still cares about their customers.
My new AS-860 really accelerates my learning curve on account of easy blowing and incredibly better key ergonomics — not to mention it's visually delightful and, well, brand new! (I’m glad I did not blow my budget overhauling my old Martin, I would have missed out on the AS-860 experience.) With an S80-C* mouthpiece I’m getting clean clear notes in all ranges. The case is nicely designed and everything fits well including my rather fat notebook of sheet music. Customer service from Jean Paul has so far lived up to its reputation. Felipe’s responses are clear, friendly and prompt.
At 54 years old, I decided to learn how to play trumpet, which has been my nemsis since high school. I had purchased a Jean Paul student alto sax last year and was impressed by the build quality. When I got decent, the tone was just as good as the rental Selmer I tried. With such a good experience with the alto sax, I decided to buy their student trumpet. Jean Paul quality is also shines on the trumpet. When oiled propertly, the valves and slides move effortlessly. On the rare occasion that I get my embouchure right, I can get a very satisfying tone. I did change out the mouthpiece to a 5C to make the buzzing easier for me. I can highly recommend Jean Paul's student alto sax and trumpet!
Keep it in the top of the bell. The second time I used it it got stuck and took me about 10 minutes to get it turned correctly so I could get it out. No damage just a lot of trouble.
Also more unstable than other Hercules stands I have.
Great idea.
The BG swabs are very absorbent. They do their job well.
I had a Yamaha sax, but my wife gave me a Jean Paul 860 for our 10th birthday, and the sound is super perfect, very clean and elegant.
Hey,
It's been sitting in its box since at my in-laws since then. i will visit them and play it in around a month and a half. ill let you know then.
But i expect it to be perfect like the other instruments i bought from you
Ill let you know t
The saxophone has a good sound, and the case is good especially considering it is a student sax. None of the pads stick which I have had issues with before on student sax. If you are considering getting one I believe it is well worth the price.
I've had zero problems with my new Jean Paul pro alto sax so far. Very happy with the tone, which sounds as good to me as my other alto sax, a vintage Buescher Big B. The difference is the Jean Paul has improved intonation and is more even across the range of the instrument, as compared with the Buescher. I also like the look of the black key touches against the silver body, and look forward to seeing its finish form a little patina in the years to come.
The engraving is very beautiful! The price is affordable for the quality and detail that it has.
I like the tone and fingering movement. Nice sax.
I purchased this instrument for my 13 year old grandson. I have a degree in woodwind performance and worked in an instrument store many years ago and am familiar with Selmer, Conn and King brass instruments. I believe this trombone is very well built. My grandson is able to play and perform with this horn and likes it better than the school loaner he has had for 3 years.
Just what I needed! It is the only I've been able to use that doesn't get stuck inside.
The ligature works great and is better-than-expected as a standard item included with the horn. I used it with another pair of mouthpieces and it has a great universal fit.
I pre-ordered the Jean Paul Academy 660 alto saxophone, and the entire process exceeded my expectations. Before shipping, a specialist carefully inspected and tested my instrument, even engraving a beautiful floral design that made it uniquely mine. I was also sent a personalized video showing my actual saxophone, along with a warm greeting and useful tips. This level of care and communication is rare and truly appreciated. Highly recommend Jean Paul to anyone looking for quality and heart in both product and service.
I was looking for a pro sax with great sound and good ergonomics but at a price that I can afford and I really found it with the TS860! This sax sounds great through out all the register. It feels very comfortable and is very responsive. The construction is very sturdy and it has all the features to adjust key heights that a pro sax should have. Previously, I tested a PMauriat pro sax valued at 5 thousands USD dollars but I prefer the sound of the Jean Paul. The only thing that should be improved is that middle D sounds stuffy. But, I was able to improve the sound by opening the lower C.
I am very pleased with this intermediate saxophone. It is my first new sax and it has completely changed my sound and ease of playing. I was told gear couldn't do that, but because this model is so responsive and fits so well in my hands I'm able to feel a lot more comfortable and confident, which has led to a smoother and steady tone. I'm thrilled!
The whole buying experience has been great too. I was given a video of my saxophone being play tested before I received it, as well as follow ups from the team to make sure all is well. Got a great tip for fixing sticky keys and how to avoid them, which I needed in general. The product and support are the real deal. I highly recommend Jean Paul to anyone looking for an affordable option of a terrific horn.
Octaves in tune, Even Scale, Good Ergonomics. As a section player, who could ask for anything more.
I was honestly surprised by the quality of this saxophone and the sound it produces. For a student-level instrument, it feels really well made. I believe it could even work as an intermediate saxophone in the long run. The customer service was excellent, I’m very happy with my purchase.
Great instrument, easy air control, can go from soft to a really big sound without any effort
I like everything about it except the fact that when I take the tuning slide out it’s considerably difficult to put back in as it doesn’t seem to line up back into place like it is supposed to.
Other than that it’s a fantastic horn and I look forward to learning on it for years to come
