I purchased the AS 860 about two years ago when it first debuted. It was intended as a backup to my Selmer Paris Super Action 80 while it was getting a complete tare down overhaul. It was a great choice. Two years on it has had no issues, (only needing slight screw adjustments as the new pads settled in). The low register is outstanding, with a low B/Bb response as easy as blowing out a birthday candle. (Happy Anniversary Jean Paul.) My Selmer is gathering dust. I highly recommend the AS 860.
I needed to buy my daughter a pro-level alto for her to use in her high school concert band. Several of her friends were getting Yanagisawa horns in the $5000 range and that is what she was asking for. I started researching alternatives and I came across the Jean-Paul saxophones. I watched many review videos and I didn't see any negative reviews at all. I decided to go with Jean-Paul and I'm so glad I did! When the horn was ready to be shipped, I was thrilled to get a video of their tech showing us the horn and playing it and assuring us that it had been looked over and adjusted and was ready to go. When it arrived, we were blown away at how beautiful that AS-860 was! It plays wonderfully and I was so impressed that I soon after ordered a custom TS-860S for myself. I currently play a Selmer Mk VI and I fully expect that the Jean-Paul tenor will be my new go-to horn, and that is saying something!
I haven’t played it much been busy but I love the sound
I'm so happy with my Anniversary Edition alto horn from Jean Paul! I told a friend I used to play sax as a kid and he encouraged me to get back to it. I rented a student horn from a high-end brand, but my Jean Paul alto is easier and more enjoyable to play. It also stays in tune much better! The small details such as the high end pads, tight-fitting case, and the ease of tightening the neck strap, are appreciated. Thank you!
Smooth action, nice tone and well put together. Excellent carrying case and great customer service. Great bang for the buck!
