Where is it made?
We manufacture all of our instruments in China. Wind instruments made in China have gotten a bad rap. The reality is there are great instruments (like ours) coming out of China now.
Our instruments are solid, play in tune, and are fully serviceable.
Need parts? We've got 'em. Need servicing? We've got you too.
Over the last decade, we've seen first hand (and have been a part of) the progress in manufacturing wind instruments in China. There's a reason that people love their Jean Paul instruments, and it's because we deliver more value than anyone else.
Let customers speak for us
from 1525 reviewsAfter purchasing a Jean Paul AS-400 sax a few months back and being so impressed with it, I decided to purchase a Jean Paul TR-330 trumpet, hoping to make some headway after trying to learn trumpet on a Tromba plastic horn and an inexpensive pocket trumpet, both with mixed results. When my Jean Paul trumpet came, the first couple of notes affirmed that I had made the right choice. The instrument seems quite well-made and the tone is far superior to my expectations, but quite aligned with the reviews I had been watching and/or reading. I am 70 years old and play multiple instruments, but I cannot image any good reason for a parent to rent an instrument for a child when a modest investment in a trumpet like the TR-330 can yield much more "bang for the buck" over the course of a student's school career. Or, if you are an adult beginner, I highly suggest you consider this option. As with my alto sax, the fit and finish, the case, and care in shipping are all top-notch.
Getting used to this instrument, pure joy!
My son started taking trumpet lessons at school. During the first year, the school provided the instruments, but by the second year, parents were expected to get a trumpet for their child. After doing some reading and research, we decided to go with @jeanpaulusa.com, and we’re very pleased with both the quality and the price.
He’s been using his trumpet for a year now and really enjoys it! Their customer service is also amazing—Felipe helped and guided me through maintenance questions, which I truly appreciated as a new “trumpet mom.”
Ps we bought TR-330
I like this set a lot, use it instead of the swabs that come with new instruments.
The entire experience with the service department was amazing. I was able to explain my issue, send a video, and ask all the silly questions I could ever need.
They replied with a very supportive video with clear explanations and resolutions. 10/10. Thank you team!!
Low Bb Roller w/ Rod for AS-400
looks good but I never used it. Saving it as a gift..
I bought the Jean Paul TS400 tenor saxophone from Amazon (which is the way to purchase their instruments). When I received the first one, it looked as though it had been ordered by someone before me, tried, repackaged and sent to me. It had finger prints, smudges and scratches on it, and the mouthpiece looked as though it had been used. I immediately called the Jean Paul company to inform them of the condition of the horn, and I have to say, I was more than pleasantly surprised with the customer service and prompt response that I received. After taking pictures and emailing the representative that I spoke with, he apologized, saying that they would never send out an instrument in the shape that I had received it in, and told me that they would send a brand new horn to me immediately. Within two days, I had a brand, new saxophone, fully set up and ready to play! Two different representatives from the company were in constant contact with me either by email or by telephone, and they made this one of the best customer service experiences that I have ever had! Not only that, this is one of the best student model horns that I have ever played! The set up was fantastic, it was free blowing, and the lower and upper registers were effortless to play. I actually used this saxophone the very next day at a gig, and I didn’t even need to break it in! I will and have recommended this company and their instruments to everyone that I know! I have absolutely nothing bad and everything good to say about Jean Paul instruments! By the way, I put no blame on the Jean Paul company for the condition of the first saxophone, I believe Amazon sent out a used return as a new product without inspecting it.
Thank you to both Felipe and Tim for proving that excellent customer service still exists in this day and age, and that there is a company that actually still cares about their customers.
My new AS-860 really accelerates my learning curve on account of easy blowing and incredibly better key ergonomics — not to mention it's visually delightful and, well, brand new! (I’m glad I did not blow my budget overhauling my old Martin, I would have missed out on the AS-860 experience.) With an S80-C* mouthpiece I’m getting clean clear notes in all ranges. The case is nicely designed and everything fits well including my rather fat notebook of sheet music. Customer service from Jean Paul has so far lived up to its reputation. Felipe’s responses are clear, friendly and prompt.
Their after sales service is positive and reliable. I bought two clarinets for my kids. The response was quick and the repairs were done well. I highly recommend them, the instruments are reasonably priced and the after sales service is the best reward for the consumer.
At 54 years old, I decided to learn how to play trumpet, which has been my nemsis since high school. I had purchased a Jean Paul student alto sax last year and was impressed by the build quality. When I got decent, the tone was just as good as the rental Selmer I tried. With such a good experience with the alto sax, I decided to buy their student trumpet. Jean Paul quality is also shines on the trumpet. When oiled propertly, the valves and slides move effortlessly. On the rare occasion that I get my embouchure right, I can get a very satisfying tone. I did change out the mouthpiece to a 5C to make the buzzing easier for me. I can highly recommend Jean Paul's student alto sax and trumpet!
The BG swabs are very absorbent. They do their job well.
I had a Yamaha sax, but my wife gave me a Jean Paul 860 for our 10th birthday, and the sound is super perfect, very clean and elegant.
The saxophone has a good sound, and the case is good especially considering it is a student sax. None of the pads stick which I have had issues with before on student sax. If you are considering getting one I believe it is well worth the price.
I've had zero problems with my new Jean Paul pro alto sax so far. Very happy with the tone, which sounds as good to me as my other alto sax, a vintage Buescher Big B. The difference is the Jean Paul has improved intonation and is more even across the range of the instrument, as compared with the Buescher. I also like the look of the black key touches against the silver body, and look forward to seeing its finish form a little patina in the years to come.
