Soprano Sax Anniversary Edition

My son decided to take on the challenge of learning the Soprano after previously purchasing the Alto Sax Anniversary Edition, which he’s absolutely loved. I highly recommend Jean Paul instruments—they’ve exceeded both his expectations and mine, and their customer service has been wonderful. Recently, he competed in four band competitions: his team earned 1st place in the final event, two 2nd place finishes, and unfortunately placed last in the first competition. Here’s a short video of him performing his solo during one of the competitions.

Quality Control needs to be addressed!

Based on internet reviews, I was expecting a Professional Soprano saxophone that would work right out of the box. While the saxophone worked, the left hand spatula keys were all setup at different heights this is unacceptable! This should have been addressed during the “professional” setup. I already was preparing to send the horn back but I decided to use the horn over the weekend to get used to the new locations of the keys. After a few days of playing, several of the linkage corks began falling off. The horn now had issues (air leaks) on several notes. I contacted their service department, sent detailed photos and an explanation. They wanted to get the horn back and address the issues. I was informed that my repair may be delayed due to the holiday shipments, bummer after just buying a new Professional Saxophone. The saxophone was delivered back to the factory, but I did not get any updates after a week. I had to contact Jean Paul again as to the status of my horn. Tim emailed and said the horn was repaired and shipped. Funny thing, I received an email from Jean Paul asking for a review of my new purchase, I did not write a review because I still didn’t get it back yet! Finally I received the horn back and everything is working. After several weeks of playing my new soprano saxophone, I can now say I really love the sound of the horn and the keywork is very good. But no one should have to go through this if attention is paid to testing the product prior to shipping it to the customer.
I am giving the “Experience” 3 stars due to the fact that this is the second time I have had issues with my purchases
The first time I purchased a Jean Paul saxophone where there were issues right out of the box. The saxophone was clearly damaged prior to shipping. There were no signs of damage to the shipping packaging or the saxophone case, but the horn had several dents, bent keys, and other issues. Their service department had very good communications and was excellent in sending out a replacement saxophone.
After this issue, I still recommend the company, but their Quality Control needs to be addressed.

Unbelivable

As soon as I got it I put on the stock mouthpiece and a vanilla 3 Vandoren and was not prepared for how easy and beautiful the tone way. It has exceeded all expectations and has been a total joy to play! I can't wait to get the entire line of pro models!

Anniversary Edition Soprano

I've owned 5 or 6 sopranos, straight and curved, very old and brand new. This one is really fun to play. Tuning is consistent over the full range, the action is responsive, and the tone is warm. It looks great, and the play-test video prepared by the head technician was a remarkable bit of customer service. I received the instrument quickly in perfect condition.

My previous instruments were nice to have in a big band setting, where doubles are needed, but I rarely played them just for fun. That's all going to change! Got some smiles and nods when I brought this to a recent small-group session.

A True Performer: Anniversary Edition Soprano Sax and Stellar Service

The Professional Soprano Saxophone ANNIVERSARY EDITION is my first soprano sax, having previously played an old‑school alto Conn that had set the bar quite high. I am delighted with this instrument; among many other “checks,” I would especially highlight its excellent tone quality and playability right out of the box. The instrument truly delivers.

I also want to commend the Jean Paul team for their outstanding customer service—responsive, helpful, and genuinely committed to ensuring a great experience. Thank you, team, and keep it up!

Bad ligature?

The ligature won't stay on when I attempt to put my reed on the mouthpiece. I called the Main contact number and spoke with Felipe, who sent me a play video. I sent them a video of the problem and never heard back. I have a Brand new sax that has never been played because of a ligature problem. And no one seems concerned. This is the second Horn I have bought from them and will be the last if they don't handle this situation.

Love it!

I'm an intermediate player, returning to the sax after 40yrs.
I'm guilty of buying based on aesthetics sometimes: I loved the look of the silver with black keys!
But when I played it, I was delighted at the warm sound and ease of playing all notes. It's way better than the Yamaha YS475II I was renting. After 6months I'm thankful I took the chance on Jean Paul.
Having trouble getting high E and F using alternate fingurings.

New to soprano sax

I wish you would have sent a diagram to explain what all the keys do and where they are. The neck strap was uncomfortable and replaced for a $10.00 one that is very comfortable.I only used one of the reeds, the synthetic reed is way better. As a business you may want to upgrade the items that you send out to new customers. After all you want them to come back to shop ,don't you !!

Absolutely Excellent

I finally got to play it and I Love it.
It looks great, it feels good, key work is responsive and sounds smooth.
One small suggestion, consider supplying a ha4d case for the professional edition
That's my third Jean Paul instrument and certainly not the last.
Thanks

Very nice instrument and great service!

Beautiful soprano saxophone which plays great. Also, can’t say enough good things about the Jean Paul staff and their helpfulness in selecting and shipping the saxophone!

My Daughter is Over the Moon with her New Soprano Saxophone

I can’t put into words how happy she is with her new Soprano Saxophone! Even her instructor loves it, he helped her properly tune it so she is playing it with correct tones.
She did say that the reeds of course were RICO and they are not as good as Vandoren but we will get those instead! I did wish the case to be 100% hard not the soft case with the hard shell so I was disappointed in that aspect but she didn’t care and liked that it has a strap to put over her shoulder since now she has her Alto Saxophone to carry too!
Grateful the shipping required a signature which gave me piece of mind it wasn’t going to just be dropped off when delivered!
The instrument itself is absolutely beautiful live the anniversary edition with the two tones! We will have real mother of pearl inserted in the keys by the music shop we use in town, he does amazing work and that will bring the value up considerably!

Great Saxophone!

Thoroughly please with the horn I received 4 days ago. The sound is rich and vibrant. Even the mouthpiece that came with it was great as a starter until my upgraded one was delivered. The only thing I miss as a personal preference is not be able to remove the neck while putting on and taking off the mouthpiece. On the other hand, it's pretty nice having the saxophone as a one-piece. Love it and am very pleased with the purchase!

Professional soprano ss860

This is a great soprano, was in the market for a Yamaha soprano, because I have a
Yamaha alto, that plays really well.
I have abandoned my search for Yamaha
Soprano, because this jean Paul SS860 is
So good that I don't believe that any Yamaha soprano can play better ,this is the best soprano for the money.
I also a student curved soprano from Jean Paul, nice soprano, but the ss860 is so much better 200%
Thanks Jean Paul

Very satisfied!

I'm returning to the sax after 40 years and started with a rental Yamaha 475II. When I was ready for my own horn, the JP looked a great value and I loved the silver with black pearl anniversary edition. While a little bit harder to blow than the Yamaha, I can hit the high notes much better. Tone and intonation seem good and pleasing to my novice ear.

SS-860 great soprano sax!

I received my SS-860 soprano sax last Saturday and I am really enjoying it! It's the first time I've played soprano sax so I'm concentrating on long tones and scales right now.
I am surprised at my progress so far. I'm usually to get decent tone and intonation with the SS-860 already. I just took up alto sax again a couple of weeks ago after 40 years of not playing, so I'm rusty in general on saxophone, but the SS-860 is a real pleasure to play.
I am currently using a JodyJazz HR* Custom Dark #5 mouthpiece with a Rovlar ligature and generally D'Addario Jazz Select #2 reeds. I go over my reeds with a reed tool and this really makes a difference in tone, intonation, and playability.
I may take up tenor sax at some point. If so, I'll get a Jean Paul tenor sax.
Keep up the good work!

I love it ! Plays perfectly !

I will recommend your company to all my sax playing friends. PS. I never received the box of soprano 2.5 reeds you promised … ???

The FnkySax Player!

I have owned my NEW Soprano for two weeks and I’m looking forward to playing my FIRST Concert with it this week! So far, this saxophone has not only met my demands as a professional recording artist, but has exceeded my expectations in mechanics, tone, and build quality! If you are looking for a great sounding and great playing instrument there is no need to look any further than Jean Paul Wind Instruments! - Quintin Gerard W.
