After reviewing many YouTube and JeanPaul reviews, I agree with Trevor M's comment; "calling this a Student Sax is a disservice to just how good this sax really is." Kudos to: Enrique for guiding me through the ordering process; Mario for the tech setup and player review- outstanding; and Tim for listening to my review of the entire process from order, to my playing experience, and overall customer experience. I truly was impressed with out of the box playability. The apperance and sax finish, the build, the crisp mechanism of the keys, and the tone. Admittedly, I use the Yamaha 4c mouthpiece with a Vandoren 2 reed, and a Rovner Dark Ligature in combination with the JP AS400 and am amazed at the superb tone I'm fortunate to produce. Without question I would strongly recommend this combination I stated to a returning saxophonist or a parent of a new student. And, anytime you can get instructional insight included, by Dr Wally Wallace, is a terrific bonus. Again, thank you to all at Jean Paul.

I've found that some pads are not sealing. Perhaps it'll improve as I play. It's an okay flute. Not great.

When I first got the trumpet, the 2nd value was getting stuck and making weird clanging noises for no reason, even after I cleaned it top to bottom, oiled the valves, it still didn’t work. I don’t know if this trumpet is defective or not, but this is a three star for me.
After having it for a week I was finally able to gift it to my son for his birthday and he was so happy. He's had a student one for 3 years and it was time to have to take the next step. This week he has a recital and can't wait to hear him play. Already during his practice I can tell the difference. Thank you to everyone at Jean Paul!
Ordered and received the AS-860 anniversary edition alto saxophone with white pearl keys and love it. The horn is beautiful and plays great. I also have the Jean Paul TS-860 tenor saxophone with white pearl and it’s great also. They match each other well and are great horns. I want to thank everyone at Jean Paul for great customer service and allowing me to special order the AS-860 alto anniversary edition with white pearl keys instead of the black pearls to match my Tenor.

I’ve been playing woodwinds for over 60 years focused on saxophone and doubling on flute. I purchased the Jean Paul Intermediate Flute as a practice instrument. The intonation is fine, but the key work is sluggish. The keys are slow to move and not flowing during transition. I can work with this, but not at a performance level. At best this is an average practice instrument. I would not consider it a step-up instrument for a student performer.
I’ve been flying more with my alto this year, and EVERY time I fly I find myself with a backpack plus hauling my old sax case over my shoulder. My body starts feeling it from the moment I enter the airport. A case on wheels is just what I needed to take a load off. I haven’t used it as a backpack yet but I like that it’s an option.

Started over in my 40’s for 10 years
Now I’m 72 and starting again I bought the AS 400 and was so very pleased with its tone and action that 4 weeks later I bought the TS-400S and was equally pleased with tis instrument
I’m now releasing both simultaneously although my GF wants to have me committed
